[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Mark, If you offer me "half" of your piece of pie I'd feel disappointed if you kept more than two thirds for yourself. ;~) 24 x 36 = 864 sq mm half = 432 sq mm 18 x 24 = 432 sq mm so in the case of "half frame" the use of "half" works. in the case of DX 1.5 crop vs 4/3's 2x crop DX 1.5 crop = 22.5 x 15.8 = 355.5 square millimeter acreage 4/3's 2x crop = 18 x 13.5 = 243 square millimeters 355.5 sq mm cut in half = 177.75 sq mm (not 243 sq mm) 4/3's = DX cut by .6838 not by .5 I choose to play this game with you because you seem to believe that every sq mm is vitally important. (and as I too would like to afford maximum acreage to film or sensor) If so; then, when discussing fractions, the difference between factors of .5 and .6838 would also seem to matter.
