I'm not sure what the failure was by your description.  Are you saying the 
camera died or the frame selection froze?

I was shooting our Chinese New Year parade today, after being out for a 
~1 hour hike in the woods with my son in the morning.

During the New Year's parade, I found that my RF was sticking, and 
turned out that the lever arm was not springing out.

I hope it never happens again, but have any of you had that problem?

I'm guessing it didn't like the cold.
