I have tried all sorts of solutions to try to get a small long lens setup which works well and is light. All are visibly inferior to the big heavy teles if one wants speed. I find the 400 and 560 telyts are super but a bit slow most of the time in England. Overall the D300 with 200-400 is impressively close to the D3x 600 combo but a fair bit smaller.
