The marketing at Apple is impressive, I agree, but in general I find their
products excellent, their easy to use interface a delight and find them good
value for money.
The iPod was a great boon to me as a music loving traveller, saved me kilos!
It is true they tend not to enter the super cheap end of the market, but hey
that is probably a profitable choice.
When I last looked a PC to the same spec as a Mac was a similar price,
unless you did a DIY. Few competitors have equal manufacturing quality.
Sure, there are lots of "me too" products like Windows and MP3 players which
ride on the back of Apple innovation at (slightly) lower prices, but they
did not have to invest in the innovation.
I am a convert! And BTW I have been using computers and writing software
since 1969.
My experience from the early years of computing lead me to the (commonly
held amongst computer specialists) opinion that the only thing Microsoft
brought to computing is the lowering of expectations.
