Hi Luggers,
I expect that the Leica dealer Schmidt, in Hong Kong, is behind the  
commemorative camera, based on feedback from the dealers in Hong Kong  
and China.
China has become a huge market for luxury goods - Ferraris and Rolls  
Royces - and M9's (which is why you can't buy a single one at list  
price in Hong Kong).
For me, who lived in Beijing in the dying days of the cultural  
revolution when everyone really suffered the contrast is beyond amazing.
