We see some of the restrictions implemented as security to be arbitrary, overly intrusive, unpleasant and unreasonable while not necessarily being effective. When was the last time an Aussie carried anything more dangerous than Vegemite into LAX? Just my apply for permission in advance, three hours prior to departure queued, double security procedured, carry on xrayed and pulled apart, suitcases unlocked to save the thieves some inconvenience, liquid restricted, questioned, through clothing body scanned, metal detected, patted down, jet lagged two cents worth.
