The Chamberlain defense as portrayed in the film was breathtakingly brave,
as was Alabama's attack from below.  The whole thing always make me sick to
think about.   The original title of the book that the film came from was
Killer Angels, if I recall, a quote regarding the generals moving soldiers
about into harm's way.

Chamberlain, by the way was an educator with no military experience before
the war.
