Dr. Ted, IF your computer is slow, then you may want to shoot RAW+JPG
so you can see the JPG as soon as you download to your computer.

However, that shouldn't be a problem with any computer made in the
last, say, 3 years, and if you are shooting a "mere" 10-12 MP camera
like M8 etc, I'd imagine that even with the 25 MP files from the
full-framers that LR and other Raw converters can display a JPG rather
quickly on any of the newer machines.

Or if you are a "bit-head," you can compare the difference between the
camera produced JPG vs. the PC/Mac Raw converter's output and select
the ones you like better. That's probably just a waste of time though,
although, I am 100% sure there there millions of threads on the
Internet praising the value of doing such a thing.
