With a DSLR, I can see where the lens comes into focus on distant objects and this point is short of the infinity mark on the scale. The only problem I can find is that, when setting the hyperfocal distance using the scale, I have to remember to back off a little on the outer mark. I seem to recall the thermal expansion explanation from some source, but I'm not sure where I saw it.
