There has been a lot of emphasis too on the benefits of the new technology being now in house for future developments too. On your Hasselblad film system, the S system is very different in form, features and functions. The 2x 500 lb gorillas are that it is digital, and auto focus, to state the bleeding obvious;-) Leica estimates the total world medium format market at 100,000 units per year and want to gain a proportion of that. Clearly someone is buying new systems. On R10, I was sitting there when the decision was announced. I listened to Stefan Daniel. I understand enough German to confirm the translation provided to me. "There will be no digital SLR camera by Leica and no R10. But there will be and we are working on this, a suitable solution to allow the use of R lenses digitally.... Nothing to do with the S2. Not before next Photokina". 2009/7/30 Frank Filippone <red735i at earthlink.net> > I really think the point is that to recoup all the R+D dollars, Leica needs > a return on investmernt.
