Subject: [Leica] LEICA SEMINAR 2009 - Lobsters

There is/was a fascinating history of fishing published by the Bath (ME)
Maritime Museum some years ago.? Among other things, in the early (very
early) colonial days, they were so plentiful they were used as fertilizer
and they were a yard long.? However, by the mid 18th century, Boston harbor
was *already* so polluted by human waste that the lobster population there
was in decline.

Today, all some of us get out of lobsters is allergic reactions.. :-(

There was an interview on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation radio on ?
Friday where 2 east coasters described how, in their parent's youth, ?
lobster was food for the very poor and their parents were quite ?
embarrassed to be seen eating lobster sandwich at school. How one ?
mother use to hide behind the shed at school so other kids wouldn't ?
see her eating lobster sandwich.

How times has changed. :)

Spencer
