Big disadvantage: shooting in B&W mode means shooting JPEG, with all  
that this entails in terms of loss of flexibility to make adjustments  
later.

Shooting RAW means a bit more work on the computer afterwards, but you  
gain better image quality and the possibility to switch back and forth  
between color and B&W.
