But you're right, it was unfair to pick on the Exakta.
Early SLR wides were for the most part poor lenses.
Even a lowly kit lens, from a current camera line, set at its wide  
setting will outperform those early wides. The Leicaflex, and  
Contarex, offerings being exceptions.
