The Nikon mount is a rework of the old 25mm dating back to the Contarex days. The M mount version is a new formula; it is very good, but in the units I have tested against my 24 ASPH they are not as good. Were I buying today I would buy the Zeiss version. At a third of the price it is a no brainer in the real world. In fact, from 35mm down I would buy the Zeiss offering new as they are outstanding.
