As someone who grew up doing just that (but not with a GPS in the 1970s) 
plus three degrees in agricultural education, I loved the series. While I 
lived on the farm, we didn't have cabs on the tractors. My dad bought his 
first one in 1979 and still has it - a red International. Now, he has a Ford 
and a John Deere - both with cabs. Cabs, GPS, cell phones, twelve rows of 
planting at once...wow....farming continues to grow below and above the 
ground!
