I only borrowed to buy my house, long paid for. I was to an extent jealous and incredulous at the apparent prosperity enjoyed by friends who did not have a phobia about loans. At the moment things are OK for me but, I have to say, over my lifetime those who have leveraged credit to the max have had a better "quality of life" than I, since the boom has been longer than the bust. As long as this is true we will always have this ratchet of growth way beyond anything we have earned, followed by a correcting collapse. IMHO. I have also always considered the Stock Market to be a gambling den full of dishonest, greedy people, like all gambling dens. Best left alone by people like me. cheers, Frank On 20 Feb, 2009, at 23:38, Marc James Small wrote: > We are rather recession-proof at this end.
