Thanks, Frank. I've used an 80GB WD USB2 external drive for backup for 
several years, and it has never failed me.  It sits on my desk unpowered for 
98% of its life.  If I buy a WD Passport Essential, it will share that life. 
Hence, dropping it is not likely.  Thanks for the feedback.
