That's right.  Our department only got up to the Nikon F4 before we
switched to Canon EOS, but since I hated the F4, and seldom used it,
I probably wouldn't have liked the F6.  Both too big.  
(I even felt the F, F2, and F3 were big - my personal SLR's were/are 
Olympus OM's).  At least the film EOS bodies gave the option of leaving
the big AA battery base off (which I did).
