Hello Gene, pleased to read that those items were fixed for you quickly and
at no charge.
The frame lever stiffness has been reported as related to a minute amount of
binding of a pin in the frame line mechanism. It involves dissembly of that
area to lubricate appraently though.
I don't know of any reputable camera repairers at least in the Western
hemisphere that don't charge significant amounts for their expertise, parts
and time. Anyone would think that they are trying to make a living!
Even so some still manage goodwill gestures on occasion. Kyocera and Zeiss
USA and Germany have both done that for me.
I have read several reports recently where equipment sent to Solms recently
for upgrade has received additional gratis work.
I've never had to have any Leica equipment repaired, but several CLA's on
older Nikon stuff educated me that it was cheaper to buy a replacement same
vintage item at today's depressed prices for older cameras.
Double those repair prices for TVs, DVD recorders etc!
Cheers
Geoff
