One of the advantages of using a QR system on the wildlife monopod is that the plate on the shoulder stock and the clamp on the monopod's tilt head can be locked in place so they don't rotate. There's a lot of rotational stress on the shoulder stock/monopod connection and a good QR system will keep the 'pod tight to the stock. One disadvantage is that you have to be mindful that the clamp is tight or you might end up with a BIG repair bill when the QR releases when you don't expect it.
