Doug:

You're on a long, slow roll with lots of momentum, here.

And I feel the need to disclose something: I had some aspirations of
someday producing images of similar quality but I'm finally at peace
with myself and now simply enjoy and appreciate your art.

Thank you for enriching us all, and demonstrating what's possible with
considerable sacrifice, patience, commitment consummate photographic
skill (and pretty damned good equipment, too!).

With respect,

Bob

Hi Doug, wow that is really striking plumage. Certainly deserves its
name.
These two shots are immaculately exposed. I don't see how you could do
anything better technically there. The second shot is my favourite
with a
little more 'pop' from the brighter light. Also the bird is in a
little more
dynamic pose, being not perfectly in profile. What makes it for me
though is
that characteristic sky reflection in the wake. I've noted that effect
in
your shots before.
Fabulous work from you, each one a treasure.

Pick up your camera and make the best photo you can.

I visited the American River fish hatchery today where a male Cinnamon
Teal
seems to have settled for the winter on one of the hatchery's settling
ponds. I sat quietly for a few hours to let him get comfortable with
me at
close range:
