In the long run ( or if you have more than 1 lens, and who does not?)  this 
is less costly.

However, then your choice is ONLY Leica lenses on your Nikon......   No 
Nikon Lenses.

I remember seeing someone that did some of this kind ( body mount swapping) 
of work... was it Leitax as well?

What about changing the bayonet on the body instead?


Leitax.com has been selling conversion kits to use Leica-R lenses on Pentax 
SLR cameras, and has recently added a conversion kit (completely reversible) 
to use
