Thanks, guys!  I really appreciate your help with this.  It would 
never have occurred to me to leave any spots or scratches but I can 
see your point.  Right now I'm just scanning and I'll put some more 
of the originals up untouched.  I think Silverfast is doing the best 
job possible of getting everything out of the negatives so I should 
just have to scan everything once and save the RAW as a master file.

The LUG comes through again!
