Subject: [Leica] Just received my Black Paint Leica M3 from Rangefinder Restorations! (A small review)

I've learned from experience that the brass lugs on the older M2, M3, and
M4's are soft, and can wear easily, especially when you use steel strap
rings. Beginning with the M4-P, I believe, Leica went to steel lugs.
?
The straps I'm using now are made up of ocean Kite surfing kevlar line,
wrapped five times around the lug and strap. It's a permanent thing and
extremely durable, quiet, and won't eat my lugs away. It's permanent, so
when I send my camera out to get serviced I have to cut through the my strap
(several attempts) with EMT scissors.
?
Thanks for asking,
G Medina

Gene-
What are you using to mount your neckstrap to the lugs? Is it a permanent or
temporary solution?
