  I agree that eBay probably does not give a rat's ass about one's financial 
situation vis a vis the IRS (or Homeland security for that matter).  They 
want the money and they act accordingly, period.  However, in this day and 
age there is no more; they don't care they won't do anything. Should any 
government entity be interested in acquiering personal info from you because 
they simply suspect, for example, money laundry activity, eBay or Paypal 
will gladly roll out the red carpet, without notifying you, and give them 
any personal info they seek.
