AMEN!  I resisted switching to LR for database management until 2.0 
and kept stubbornly separating all of my photos into folders based on 
country and subject.  With 2.0, I don't have to do that.  Everything 
is in one catalog - almost 20,000 photos so far - and it is much 
easier to find everything and to work on what I need to than it used 
to be with folder-based files.  Lightroom is amazingly fast on both 
my laptop and desktop.  If I give it time to build 1:1 previews 
before I start working on the photos, there are no hitches in viewing 
everything at 100% to edit and apply development settings.
