As my husband can tell you from many years' experience, I get very depressed when I return from these trips - a combination of so much left undone, the rampant consumerism here, and the doubt about whether what I'm doing is making any difference at all. I need lots and lots of reassurance ;-) which I usually get from my real family and my virtual family (the LUG). My real family is scattered all over the place right now, all with their own issues and problems, and I'm sure the same is true of my virtual family.
