You chose to do your agreed upon job well and honorably; with respect for your contract and your comrades. Problems arise when the feeling of "doing my job" conflict with a personal sense of "doing what's right." I've experienced variations of this problem on numerous occasions. I agree with you that "if" this is simply and "ego" decision it has little merit. Yet, if it becomes a personal, ethical decision which requires going against "orders;" I also understand and respect that decision. I have no reason to judge either your motives regarding your decisions; nor those of the journalist in question. I respect and honor both of you for the work that you've done on behalf of increasing our knowledge and understanding. Blogging, writing, photographing and publishing one's thoughts and opinions (whether visual or verbal) undoubtedly require ego involvement. However, I don't think that fact disregards the importance of writers, artists, photographers and musicians from producing important work of quality. The exchange of ideas, in every thoughtful and serious form, remains our only hope to evolve beyond violence and consumerism.
