The word "system" is all important......The real advantage you R guys and Gals have is the ability to put the lens on a Canon camera... us M folk do not have that option. So we have more and different unresolved questions....... If I had R lenses, and wanted to go Digital, I would get a R8 + DMR. It does seem to produce the better results than an R lens on the Canon body you tried out.... Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net Well the difference in this case has nothing to do with the lens because the lens is identical. nothing to do with the computer processing SW because that is also identical. nothing to do with movement - same tripod, mirror up. The question of whether the difference lies within the sensor, SW and/ or combination of both is mute for me. Because these are digital imaging "systems" which include a sensor, firmware and software functioning outside of my control. I can't build my own system. I have to choose from what's on the shelf. We place a lens on the "system" and see what we get. We choose the "system" which delivers the results we prefer according to a host of personal preferences. For me the "look" of the image file and the quality of the optics together with the ergonomics of both camera and lens makes the determination. Fond regards, George
