Subject: [Leica] How to get an M8 for $3200... Now defective 21 Elmarit

Geoff,

Yes, it is a 6 bit lens, and I have tried all the fitting and cleaning
possibilities. I also have the 28 Elmarit Asph lens which works just fine
and brings up the lens info on the M8. The Dealer is in California and had
only the one lens when I bought it. I did not realize there was a problem
until I was 2 states away in New Mexico. ;-( Dave at Leica NJ told me they
could probably gety it fixed and back to me before I leave for Europe, but
at this late date, I'm not sure I want to take a chance, as I bought it so I
would have it for the trip. I do not have a IR filter so it works just fine
for now. I will be in Germany on the trip, so I may just stop by Solms and
see if they can fix it while I wait.;-) Otherwise I can wait until I get
back from the trip to get it fixed. I'm in Texas right now, and the dealer
in Dallas does not have one either, Just my Luck.

The real downer, it that this is the first Leica product I have bought and
it does not work 100% as it is supposed to. If I was a pro like tina and
had a pro card, I would feel more secure that they would have it back here
before I left, but that is not an option. ;-)
