Subject: [Leica] WTB: 280 f2.8 apo

Charlie, this is perfectly true, and that is what I did in the Arctic, but I
found the range not quite long enough, even on the DMR. I have been thinking
that with the 280 I might have a 560 with the 2x which would be about as
long as I could hold on the monopod I suspect. Its not a vital in the
Antarctic and if I don't go that route, the 180 with the 2x will still be
very effective in 90% of cases

Cheers

Alastair,

Why not buy the 1.4x APO converter instead? Or even the 2x APo as
well. On a long trip, weight can be an issue. With the 180/2 (my
favourite R lens), adding the extenders doesn't lose you much in
image quality at all.
