The simple answer is that you don't need filters except to change the light
artistically, and of course the ir cut filters. That is modern Leica
lenses, from forty years ago or so. Not just my stance, Leica people in
Solms mocked me for using an IR on my 28 Elmarit.
If you are fearful of protecting your front element, then perhaps you've
found yourself in too severe a locale for your own breathing or vision
safety?
