Subject: [Leica] Scanner advice really needed...

Folks -

I really need a new scanner; my Epson flatbed (which I've never been
quite OK with) is doing weird stuff (with either the Epson scan
driver or Silverfast Ai).

I'd really like to keep the cost around 500 USD, but if one of you
trusted film fans feels that I really oughtta spend more I'd probably
yield to greater wisdom.

Looks like there may be a Nikon, a Plustek (whatever that is) and a
Microtec or two. 6x6 capacity would be nice but not absolutely
necessary. 4000 ppi and four-point-something dynamic range would be
the minimum specs (although I suppose a good multi-scanning device
might be able to deliver the goods with three-point-something DR.)

Almost all of my film is Tmax or Fuji 400 speed, with occasional
forays into the 100 & 1600 ISO regions.

What Should I Buy??
