I'm not sure where you read that there will be no digital R body. Would
you mind quoting the relevant text?

A full frame digital M would be great, but I am not aware of any recent
improvements in sensor technology that would make it feasible. I
imagine a digital R will be full frame, but a digital M will need new
technology (sensors with wider angle of acceptance).
