Hoppy

I can't follow your calculations fully. You should compare prices used to
used and new to new, not cross over. Otherwise the comparisons get quite
useless as there's to much space for flexible interpretation. New includes
warranty, used, even if minty, often not, for instance. Then, to compare,
take intl. prices. You can buy everywhere in the world by internet. Nothing
is rare in the web...

New:
M7 new with Leica 2 yrs. warranty: $3995 (Popflash.com)
ZI new with Zeiss USA factory warranty 1yr.: $1341 (Popflash.com)
Bessa R3A new with Cosina warranty 1 yr: $569 (Cameraquest.com)
Difference M/ZI and ZI/Bessa: $2654, $772

Used:
M7 mint with seller warranty 1yr - $3197 (Popflash.com)
ZI mint with seller warranty 1yr - $1057 (Popflash.com)
Bessa R2A mint no warranty: $479 (Cameraquest.com)
Difference M/ZI and ZI/Bessa: $2140, $578

I think this comparison is more factual. ZI is in it's prices much closer to
Voigtlander than Leica. The ZI offers more than the Bessa (best finder of
class, more accurate rangefinder, less factory QC issues, more silent
shutter), but not the built quality and reliability of a M7 (let's forget
the value of the red dot for once) - and I think the price reflects this
quite well.

>Hi Didier, yep it has a wonderful finder.
>My comments based on personal experience and opinion and this market
>naturally.
>In Australia the ZI is an extremely rare item.
>Last time I looked a new body listed here for AUD 2,400 (if you found one).
>Used examples are virtually non- existent here.
>A Voigtlander R2a AUD 1000 new or AUD 600 minty. I think that is better
>value than the ZI.
>A clean, used M6 would be AUD 1500 to AUD 2000.
>A near mint M7 might cost 300 to 500 more than that ZI new.
>Of course I think that those are worth the difference.
