"Do what you love, locate the market and the money will follow." May have some validity. The stock agencies are selling low to markets coming to their stores for a glut of life style b.s. photography (with a few rare exceptions). So it may be that those stock agencies are not the stores that your existing documentary work needs to be in. It may be that you need to find and or create a different sort of store to sell from. Have you considered finding a writer and collaborating on some serious publishing ventures? Books and appropriate international magazines which would complete the documentary projects you've begun - illuminating the subject to a wider audience?
