We looked at the Prius here in Aus. We ended up getting a Mazda 6 turbo 
diesel. Very nearly as environmentally friendly. A great
car, great performance and amazing fuel economy. Really well put together 
and featured, like all of the Mazdas.

Well, you're going to have to replace the battery ($$$$) before parts
become hard to get, I suspect.

They're certainly very popular in this neck of the woods and their
owners are very happy with them.
