I can't possibly come up with a "best 50" when each of them seems to excel
at SOMETHING. The perfect 50 might end up being like the proverbial "camel
is a horse designed by a committee".

If speed is not a concern, it's the 50/3.5 Heliar
If speed is a concern, it's the 50/1.4 Summilux (I admit to being partial to
the pre-asph).
If speed is only sort of a concern, it's the 50/2 Planar

And all of the other ones could be used to capture an award-winning shot
except maybe the 50/0.95 Canon (which I DON'T have).
