Helpful readers,

Microsoft did a dirty trick on Windows 95 users. They first bundled a 
backup/restore package that was written by a third party.

Evidently they got greedy and didn't want to pay royalties and switched 
backup/restore software somewhere along the line (still in the Windows 
95 line).

I have some colleagues in Malawi who were careful and did their backups.

Unfortunately, they can't read them now. The restore software that 
Microsoft converted to is not backwards compatible.

Does anyone else recognize this problem? There are pointers Microsoft 
support, but the only thing Microsoft says is that there is no solution.

Does anyone have the older version of restore from a Windows 95 
installation?
