Thanks to all who offered assistance in tracking down a baseplate. 
Although DAG didn't have one listed on his website he did have one 
available.

I'd all but given up on finding what I needed and planed a backyard 
ceremony to put my best Leica to rest. (see below)  Was short of 
balloons but Steve told me he'd pick up a few for me next time he went 
out shooting. :-)
