How high is up? How large is big? The requirements for SLR and rangefinder system lenses are distinct and this means that it is hard to equate many of them. But, in the end, optical excellence is optical excellence. And, for that matter, many of these lenses are now optically identical where this does not inflict pain on the needs of the system. Shucks, if you restrict yourself to purchasing a Leica M3 and use only the lenses made available for it during the 1950's, you will be challenged beyond your abilities. If you purchase an original Leicaflex and do the same for the SLR lenses made during the 1960's, the same applies. You can spend a lifetime with either of these sets and never exhaust the ossibilites. The newer cameras and the newer lenses have made it better but, shucks, some of us are happy with a IIIc and Summitar. Optical excellence is optical excellence. And Leitz has aimed at that since the later 1930's once they started making some money from the sale of their oddball RF camera. Marc msmall@aya.yale.edu Cha robh b?s fir gun ghr?s fir!
