A nice display, I liked the crossover best as so dramatic.

So, the sub-gallery with Spitfires and the Red Arrow display team is
finished.

Terrible problems on all 3 days with changing light, bright sun, low
cloud and light mist, and 1 Spitfire pilot who refused to fly his Spit
so that you could see the cockpit too. All in all I'm quite pleased with
what came out - and particularly pleased with the performance of a
second hand CZ 3.5/200mm lens.
The gallery is ordered with the 2 Spitfires first, then close ups (or
tight crops of the Red Arrows, and finally, the Red Arrows showing the
different display formations (the names of which I've forgotten.

A little history concerning Whitby and Spitfires:
The first German bomber shot down over the UK crashed in flames close to
Whitby, the first German POW was taken prisoner in Whitby, and the
Spitfire pilot who shot them down was Peter Townsend, later Princess
Margaret's boyfriend - not the member of The Who, he's Peter Townshend
with an "h".
Cheers
Douglas
