It's the same length as I remember from my gliding days as a student.  One
summer's day I took an aerial photo of Cambridge on my late father's Ilford
Sportsman using Kodachrome 64 and from it had a great print made which still
hangs in my office.

Hi Jerry,

I have no knowledge of the legality or otherwise of the towline but this
country is very fond of legislative overkill, especially 
with regard to matters of safety, so I seriously doubt that any laws were
being broken.
