How many 90s is that on the market no one is buying? 3 or 4? THE first priority of Leica has to be the introduction of a compact DSLR for it's R series. The R Series has to back up the M series. When you have doubts about your M you use your R. and visa versa. DSLRs now are formidable picture takers. If you have shot with them they are hard to argue with when you look at your "take" and your final edit of images. They have a more formidable effect now in photography than the Nikon F had in 1960. When SLR's came out they did not knock out medium format photography. DSLRS have done that for the most part. That shows how formidable they're effect has been. Though I think medium format photography with film will live and certainly with digital backs. The digital back whatever the acronym for it was was a debacle. Typical for Leica. The M8 is not a debacle I guess they cant make them fast enough. But I'm not getting one. Its not that I cant shell out for one. Tis the M9 I cant afford which I know I'll want. Which is an M8 which also shoots competitive color as well as black and white. Heck I'd buy the M8B a black and white M8 but not the M8 as it stands. Be nice if all it really needs is a good firm firmware update. Hail is landing now on my air conditioner. That should help it. It needs that kind of thing. Gets the kinks and the bugs out. Leica needs some hail. Mark William Rabiner Harlem, NY rabinergroup.com
