I didn't know what it was with this shot when I saw the RAW for the first time: out of focus and heavily underexposed. A missed shot so to speak. But then I looked at the composition, the fact that it only had 3 basic tones, the inverted focus, the fact that the silhouette showed just enough to tell what it was and finally the somewhat strange surface structures, and it all seemed just right. Funny how things can turn into your favor so suddenly. I made it as the first shot with a camera that I've never had in my hands before: a 5D that I had rented for last weekend. So it's sheer coincidence. BTW: all the other shots that I made with it have a definite look, too. All heavily out of focus, but they definitely have a look ;-) (5D, 3200 ISO (didn't find it in the menu, so dialed in 1600 and 1 stop under), Aperture priority at 2.8 (of a 16-35/2.8), focus put in the center to make things not too complicated and AWB) It's the luck one gets when the boy gets a new toy...
