There are TWO versions of the pre-ASPH Summilux,
Jerry. The first one was an upgraded Summarit
which was an embarrassment for 1961, as it still
couldn't match the performance of the 1933
1.5/5cm CZJ Sonnar. They finally went to the
mattresses and reworked the design, quietly
introducing an entirely new design in 1963,
though not admitting this until 1966. (Leica
still has never admitted that there are any
design differences between the collapsible and
rigid first-generation Summicrons.)

Which version of the Summilux do you have, Jerry?

Marc
