I think the problem for my friend is that the focus point button is near where be puts his right thumb when holding the camera. In the heat of the moment I think he may shift the focus point and not noticing the shift he keeps aiming with the middle point while actually focusing with the right or left point. This tendency has caused him to think there might be a compatibility problem about focusing but I couldn't find it. Based on my day's shooting I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the lens - it produces first rate pictures.
