Sure it "could"... one the lens coding tells the camera it is a T-E.  The 
second is the frame lines selected, which changes in the
T-E dependent upon which FL is chosen.

Does it do this?  I don't know., but it easily could do this.

For the Tri-Elmar, I plan on waiting to see whether it needs it.  I don't
know whether the camera is able to detect which of the three focal lengths
is dialed in, so why bother with the coding?
