What is so magical > about a 35mm digital frame size? Absolutely NOTHING! Gary, you're right there's nothing magical about it. The 35mm frame size matters most to people who have lenses that will cover that size. The thing about size is that given equivalent technological developments, a larger sensor will yield better image quality. No I don't always need the better image quality but when I need to crop a lot having a reserve of image quality available will make the difference between a usable photo and one that I don't want to show in public. The male Western Bluebird I posted this week was cropped from horizontal, for example. The Tundra Swan on final approach that I posted several weeks ago was severely cropped. With film I'd have tried a 645 camera except I wasn't willing to carry the lenses equivalent to my 280, 400 and 560mm Telyts. Doug Herr Birdman of Sacramento http://www.wildlightphoto.com
