Hi Richard,
I definitely prefer v2.
May I suggest trying a version  taking out the thick tree trunk and 
branch on 3356_v2, just drop a vertical from where it intersects the top 
of the picture, it might look better, then I suggest converting the red 
calligraphy to a sand or beige colour (or perhaps light grey), but leave 
the chop in red.
